session planning

portrait session locations
Be creative.  I love to shoot downtown in urban areas.  I also love big empty fields.  Shady parks.  If there is a spot that is special to you let’s go there.  Portraits are about the people in them, not the landscaping.  Meaning is more important than manicure.
clothing selection
Wear whatever you look/feel good in.  Coordinating you wardrobe is great, but don’t try to be too matchy.  We want to capture the real you and unless you dress alike all of the time matching clothes will look “staged”.  I advise against wearing black because everyone in the picture will blend together and that will make you look bigger, not smaller.  If you are wearing heels and we are going somewhere that is unpaved, bring flip flops to walk around in.portrait session locations

portrait session maternity

I generally do maternity between 30 and 36 weeks, but can do earlier or later depending on the circumstance.  Most are done in studio, but location is also available.  A credit for a newborn session is included with the purchase of a maternity session.
wardrobe: Pregnancy wardrobes can be fabulous or a nightmare.  Please keep in mind that the following are suggestions, we will do our best to work with whatever you have available to you.
General suggestions
Your hands may be used to draw attention to your pretty bump.  Manicures are a wonderful treat anyhow.
Natural makeup and your usual hairstyles will work best for you.
Makeup can be applied to the body.  Retouching is included and will take care of stretch marks and blemishes.
If Daddy and the siblings are in the pictures have them follow the standard session planning suggestions. Black shirts or shirtless work great.  For lighter backgrounds browns, of white or white work best.
  • Traditional:  These are the more traditional styled portraits, great with Daddy and siblings, the kind of images you can share with grandma.  Bring solid colored tops and pants, long fitted T-shirts and jeans.  Bring solid colored tops and pants.  Black is always a sure bet for pants, but consider wearing something lighter to show off the tummy.
  • Fabric wraps:  More artistic images using our fabric to cover whatever needs to be covered.  For under the fabric: bra, strapless bra, panties, leggings, shorts, or nothing at all.  Fabric wraps can be as modest or showy as you like.
  • Nudes: Completely optional.  Enough Said.
